Highest Standards in Maintenance
When it comes to aircraft maintenance Westair has been setting the pace in Namibia since 1967 – with regard to volume as well as safety standards. Westair's engineering workshop is officially recognised by the aviation authorities of the neighbouring countries Angola, Botswana and South Africa. Inspections carried out by the Namibian Directorate of Civil Aviation (DCA), which in turn is regularly monitored by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), have repeatedly shown that the company also complies with the strict regulations of international aviation standards.
The Service
Westair Maintenance covers a wide range of services:
Routine maintenance (after 50 and 100 flying hours)
General overhaul and repairs (piston engines, mechanical parts, fuselage and wings)
Mobile repair-service within Namibia and the neighbouring countries ('flying mechanics')
Line Maintenance for domestic and regional flights (refuelling, cleaning, etc.)

Maintenance on aircraft ranges from the smallest Cessna or Piper to the Beechcraft, and also includes the Dassault Falcon 900 B and the Learjet 31 A of the Namibian President. Westair is also equipped for overhauling piston engines and servicing helicopters.

The company has a long-standing partnership with Namibia's national carrier, Air Namibia. Between touch-down and take-off of domestic and regional flights, including Boeing 737, Westair Maintenance takes care of the line maintenance. Air Namibia's domestic fleet (Cessna 406, Beechcraft 1900) is entirely maintained by Westair. Westair's own fleet is, of course, also part of the daily routine.

Eight years ago Westair Maintenance was assigned the only Cessna Authorized Service Station in Namibia. For customers this has the advantages that repairs are performed under strictly controlled conditions, and are well-priced, because spare parts are directly imported from the manufacturer in Wichita, Kansas, USA. But other aircraft types also receive the very best care and attention, as the spare parts store of Westair Maintenance is the largest in the country.

The Engineering Workshop

Westair uses two large, fully equipped maintenance hangars at Eros Airport in Windhoek for bigger repairs and another one for routine maintenance. The crew consists of 27 certified mechanics. Since 2001 the company is also represented in Swakopmund: routine inspections are carried out by two to three mechanics in a newly built hangar at the local airport.

Westair Maintenance in Windhoek also offers refuelling services at Eros Airport as an agent for the oil company Engen. Fuel types available are AvGas (100 octane) and Jet A 1 (kerosene).

The Chief Engineers
Expertise, dedication and conscientiousness at Westair Maintenance are guaranteed by the technical directors: Peter Keil and Bully Schneider. Keil has been with Westair since 1986, Schneider joined in 2003.
